To enable 2-Step Verification on your new Gmail ID and verify your recovery email, you can follow these steps:
Sign in to your Gmail account: Visit www.gmail.com and enter your email address and password to log in to your account.
Access Gmail settings: Once logged in, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Gmail interface. From the drop-down menu, select "See all settings."
Navigate to the "Security" tab: In the settings page, click on the "Security" tab located at the top of the options.
Enable 2-Step Verification: Scroll down to the "Signing in to Google" section and locate the "2-Step Verification" option. Click on the "2-Step Verification" checkbox to turn it on.
Set up your phone number: Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your phone number for 2-Step Verification. You can choose to receive verification codes via SMS or a phone call.
Verify your phone number: Enter the verification code you receive on your phone and click "Next" to verify your phone number.
Add a backup option: In case you lose access to your primary verification method, it's important to have a backup option. You can add a backup phone number or an alternative email address as a secondary verification method.
Verify your recovery email: Scroll down to the "Account recovery options" section. If you have already added a recovery email, click on "Verify" next to the email address and follow the instructions to verify it. If you haven't added a recovery email, click on "Add recovery email" and provide the necessary information to add and verify your recovery email.
Save changes: Once you have enabled 2-Step Verification and verified your recovery email, scroll to the bottom of the settings page and click on the "Save Changes" button to apply the changes to your Gmail account.
By enabling 2-Step Verification, you add an extra layer of security to your Gmail account. It requires you to provide a verification code in addition to your password when signing in from an unrecognized device or location. Verifying your recovery email ensures that you have a backup option to regain access to your account if needed.
